Wood that tells a story...
“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect” – Alice Walker

We only ever use 2 types of wood: 'Reclaimed' and 'Character Grade'.
The story of these two unique materials...
Reclaimed.
Our locally-sourced, genuine reclaimed timber can be up to 100 years old and is hand-picked for it's character by us from local reclamation experts here on the south coast. Alongside the natural character, each rustic plank is full historical traces of it's previous industrial life. We embrace all of these "imperfections" as an integral part of our Reclaimed Wood Collection, with each helping to create genuinely unique and intriguing pieces.
Perfectly Imperfect Features:
Cracks, scuffs, open grain, old nail holes, saw marks, hammer indents and small rust marks are a common characteristic. We embrace all of these features as they are an integral part of the look and feel of our designs. We occasionally blend small amounts of filler into certain types of cracks or cuts to help sure up the surface.
Unevenness and small shallows in the wood are to be expected. The top of your table may not be perfectly flat as reclaimed wood is not an engineered or manufactured surface. Timbers are arranged to showcase each, bump, dip, knot and crack as these features and quirks give our pieces their individuality and charm. If you are looking for a perfectly flat surface, reclaimed wood is not suitable and we have a character grade range more appropriate for those looking for a more consistent surface. As such unstable items, such as tall stem wine glasses may not sit flat in certain areas. This is all part of the theatre and experience of owning a one-off handmade piece of reclaimed wood furniture.
As the reclaimed timber adjusts over time to the conditions in your home, there may be slight movements in the wood such as shrinkage between planks, as well as small cracks opening and closing depending on the environment. This may mean your table develops a small wobble, which can easily be fixed by placing a felt pad under one of the feet.
Colour/texture/finish:
Each piece of our salvaged wood is totally unique and individual in almost every aspect. As such colour, texture and grain will vary across your item(s). The images of the colours and finishes in the gallery are indicative only and can vary. Please contact us if you wish to match the finish of a product you’ve ordered from us previously and we’ll do our best.
Our reclaimed wood collection is carefully designed to emphasise the inherent beauty of original reclaimed timber, which by nature is very rustic and imperfect. We love this!

Character Grade
Sourced only from responsibly managed FSC certified forests, our Character Grade wood is 100% solid Scandinavian Spruce.
Our Character Grade Collection offers an alternative finish to our reclaimed wood products and whilst still bursting with character and personality, it allows for a more even and smooth finish due to its pre-sawn nature. Rustic open grain, knots and small shakes/cracks in the wood are all common features which give each piece its individuality and charm. To complement our reclaimed wood finishes we offer an exclusive set of specially developed in-house colours: Sand, Mink, Light Oak
