When an interior designer is creating a home for a client, every piece of furniture has a role to play. It needs to look beautiful, of course, but it also needs to feel considered, work within the proportions of the space and, importantly, reflect the personality of the home.
For many designers, that means moving away from mass-produced, off-the-shelf furniture and towards pieces that feel more individual. It’s one of the reasons interior designers are increasingly choosing Still & Bloom for their projects.
The brief
One interior designer discovered Still & Bloom while working on a full-home renovation in South Devon. The brief was for a modern coastal home, with a rustic farmhouse influence, and she was looking for a console table that had personality and wouldn't just fade into the corner.
After discovering Still & Bloom on Etsy, she found our Shore Console Table with Single Drawer. The combination of its craftsmanship, finish and beautifully considered drawer detail immediately stood out. Just as importantly, its proportions worked perfectly within the home's narrow entranceway.
The client was happy to invest a little more in furniture that offered significantly better quality and felt elevated - the kind of detail that can really bring a project together.
That first purchase led to another Still & Bloom piece for the same home: the Andersson Heritage Coffee Table. Here, the aim was for a minimalist aesthetic with a relaxed, coastal-rustic feel. The absence of a lower shelf was particularly important, allowing the table to anchor the room without competing with the existing media unit.
Designed to complement, not compete
The relationship continued with another client project: a farmhouse-coastal living room where the client already knew and loved Still & Bloom.
For this larger space, the Barn Coffee Table was chosen for its ability to bring the room together without overwhelming it. Its scale helped make the room feel more spacious, while its design made for a beautiful focal point to bring people together.
As the project developed, the client also chose our Splay Desk for her office and snug. Seeing the piece in person made such an impression that the designer was inspired to purchase one herself!
The details make the difference
Back at the original South Devon renovation, our Auckland Bedside Table in Limed Oak was selected for a small guest bedroom. Once again, it was the sense of individuality that made the difference. Its compact proportions were ideal for the room, while the beautiful limed-oak finish gave it a relaxed coastal character. The leather strap detail added warmth and texture, bringing an additional layer of interest to an otherwise minimalist space.
