Our Expert Radiator Guide
With every item we make being individually handmade to order, this enables us to make custom dimensional adjustments based on the requirements of your home. Which is especially handy when it comes to radiators!
Radiators appear in almost every home, and can be awkward features, standing-out in your space. By adding a radiator console, not only will it help conceal the radiator, it will also turn the area into stunning focal point within your home.
Our experts have compiled some helpful tips for you below, so you can better understand your radiator, and how we can help adjust our consoles to fit your needs.

What type of radiator do you have?
Radiators come in all different shapes, sizes and positions, however the most common type has large rectangular body, with piping/valves in the bottom corners that run into the wall.
If you do wish to get in touch with us, it's always helpful to send us a photo of your radiator first so we know which dimensions we will then need to ask you for!

Slightly trickier radiators
Some radiators can be a bit more challenging.
For example, some radiators have pipes going into the floor, which may effect where a consoles bottom shelf will sit.
Or, a radiator may be positioned close to an adjacent wall or doorway, meaning that fitting console legs to the side of the radiator may be difficult.
If you are unsure as to what restrictions your radiator might have, don't worry, once you reach out to us, we will request a photo and will advise.

Measuring your radiator
When measuring your radiator, it's crucial to consider these things:
Overall dimensions: The most important dimensions for us are the width, depth and height, as these define the extremities of your radiator.
Piping: Most, if not all, radiators have a form of piping on the sides or below. Don't forget to include these when your measuring!
Space below: The majority of our consoles feature a bottom shelf which, most of the time, will have to sit below the radiator.
When you reach out to us, we will send you a simple list of dimensions we need from your radiator... so there's no need to memorise this!

Room to breathe
Wood, being a living, breathing material can shift/settle slightly as it adjusts to the conditions of the home, so it's extremely important for us to allow a 1-2cm of space all around when designing your console to account for this movement.
This additional space also allows for a decent amount of room for airflow around the radiator.

Complex radiator, simple solutions!
No matter how peculiar the radiator, our furniture experts will find a way to make it work for you.
Whether that's shifting the base in front of a radiator that runs directly into the floor (A).
Or, reducing the overhang of the console at either end for radiators close to an adjacent wall (B).
Every radiator is unique, with its own set of challenges, however, we're yet to meet a radiator we can't accommodate!
